Background of  State Key Laboratory of Solid State Lighting
 

        In order to strengthen substantive cooperation in research to carry out long-term sustainable development and technological research and support the development of core common key technology research and development, and under the actively promote and courage of Combination of working in coordination of the Steering Group, Semiconductor lighting industry chain’s mainly different segments of the industry ability of 16 companies, the backbone of scientific research institutes, universities and professional intermediaries jointly initiated the establishment of the "semiconductor lighting industry technology innovation strategic alliance" ("Union"), the existing members of the unit is 38. In the new forms of organization of the industrial technology innovation and strategic alliances, we need to further implement the Union's mandate, and breakthrough the core common key in semiconductor lighting technology and next-generation core technology to seize the high ground as soon as possible.

        Nowadays Chinese  semiconductor lighting industry is facing the main challenge that technical support is not enough and the lack of sustained innovation. Semiconductor lighting is not only involved in basic materials and chip technology, but also involves optical, electrical, thermal, chemical and equipment, and other fields, and it is a typical multi-disciplinary integration of complex systems engineering. China's current enterprises are small-scale, research institutes’ strength is scattered, and under the existing institutional mechanisms, the R & D results can not be shared.
